“After Van Gogh: Obscured by Trees” by Ronda Richley
Original Mixed Media Painting by Ronda Richley, created on gallery wrapped canvas, measuring 40″ x 30″ with painted edges, with her signature of figures obscured within the trees.
This painting was created from a sketch the artist did while in the south of France. The sketch is of the Olive field at the Asylum in St. Remy, looking toward the entrance road. This asylum is where Vincent Van Gogh spent a great deal of time painting the scenery as he was an inmate there.
The canvas was first texturized, then coated in blocks of acrylic for color. Oil pastels were worked over the top of the painting, giving it that windy look from the Mistrals that were blowing in the day of the sketch. The artist has her signature figures within and around the trees but are very much obscured, hence the title.
Shown here in red outline is some help for you to find the figures. The red outlines are NOT in the painting.
