Now I have heard it all as far as my artwork is concerned. I tried to run three different ads with Facebook, and they CENSORED them! Why? Guess? ….NAKED TREES! What? Are they supposed to wear pants?
The first ad I tried to run (pay Facebook for, mind you!) was one that was provided to me by Miami River Art Fair, Art Basel, as my promo to post everywhere…LinkedIn, Facebook, and all social media. Well, posting was fine, but then, Facebook offers to “boost” posts for a fee so I click on yes, let’s boost this one. Okay. Picked my budget, and it was boosted for a bit over 24 hours until Facebook cut it off as it “did not meet Facebook community standards.” Now in looking into this, Facebook is opposed to any nudity in art, for educational purposes, whatever EXCEPT you can post photos of breast-feeding, according to CNET (link here). I guess this applies to #NakedTrees as well because that is what I do.
At the same time I “boosted” that post, I also put in to boost a second post that promoted my Giclee print sale. The post had a slide show and about the fourth or fifth slide that you clicked on, low and behold there were some #NakedTrees! So guess what? They censored that one as well due to their community standards.
Giclee Print Sale! $19.95 through December 15.
See the post on my Facebook Page!
So, okay, I will pick something safe to post, that will not offend anyone, even the very right of the righteous! I posted the link to my email newsletter promoting my print sale. Hmmm. No #NakedTrees. No nudity. But……Facebook strikes again! #CENSORED! So I appealed their decision and in less than a minute it was denied again. Link is below!
